Description
Also known as the Sun Rose or Rush Rose, these are in reality a dwarf shrub or 'subshrub' very closely related to their larger cousins - Cistus.
Once established they will prove tolerant to even the longest droughts - and they always thrive in a full sun position. To many their wiry foliage can look untidy - but this is a plant to grow for its beautiful display of flower in colours ofwhite, pink, rose, red, yellow in varying shades.
If you prune after the first flowering this can encourage a second, later flowering. Simply beautiful.
Perfect for rockeries or border planting alike.
Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
- Perennial.
- Flower May - July (pruning back after flowering will encourage a later flush of flower).
- Grow to approximately 8" -12" (20 -30 cm) tall.
- Thrive in full sun.
- Happy in well drained soils.
- Drought tolerant once established.
- Plant 10" (25 cm) apart.
- Good for ground cover.
