Description
Fuchsia 'Border Queen' is a very pretty fuchsia with single, medium-sized bell-shaped flowers. The tube and sepals are rhodamine pink, while the corolla is amethyst/violet, flushed with pink. This free flowering fuchsia has a vigorous, self-branching habit and makes a good standard.
Reaches 16" (40 cm) tall.
Bred by Dr Matthew Ryle, UK and registered in 1974. Parents are Leonora and Lena Dalton.
- Plant out from late May all through the summer.
- Hardy once established.
- Suitable for potting on or, dependent on time of year, planting straight into the garden.
- Late autumn garden planting should be avoided as the plants will not have time to establish before the winter.
- If grown in containers and left outside all winter they may not prove fully hardy as container growing does not afford the same level of root protection as growing in the ground.
- In severe winters additional protection may be required for plants in the ground or left outside in containers. We suggest covering the plant with straw then inverting a large pot or bucket over it to provide further protection.
