Description
The small, single flowers of Fuchsias 'Arborescens' are gorgeously coloured. The tube is magenta, while the sepals are a reddish/wine purple, and to top if off, the corolla is a striking lavender on lilac. This fuchsia has a strong, upright habit.
The botanist for this variety is John Sims who wrote about this variety in 1825, native to Mexico.
- Plant out from late May all through the summer.
- Hardy once established.
- Suitable for potting on or, dependent on time of year, planting straight into the garden.
- Late autumn garden planting should be avoided as the plants will not have time to establish before the winter.
- If grown in containers and left outside all winter they may not prove fully hardy as container growing does not afford the same level of root protection as growing in the ground.
- In severe winters additional protection may be required for plants in the ground or left outside in containers. We suggest covering the plant with straw then inverting a large pot or bucket over it to provide further protection.
