Description
A popular choice for the exhibition bench, Fuchsia Beacon lives up to its name. With its deep pink tube and sepals and a corolla that is mauvish pink, veined with red, it really catches the eye. Upright in habit, it produces plenty of self-branching, bushy growth. Reaches a height of 24" (60 cm).
Bred by William Bull of Chelsea, UK, in 1871 and received a Highly Commended Cetificate by RHS Hardy Trials, Wisley, 1975-1978.
- Plant out from late May all through the summer.
- Hardy once established.
- Suitable for potting on or, dependent on time of year, planting straight into the garden.
- Late autumn garden planting should be avoided as the plants will not have time to establish before the winter.
- If grown in containers and left outside all winter they may not prove fully hardy as container growing does not afford the same level of root protection as growing in the ground.
