Description
There is no way to describe the huge fruits that this variety can produce other than as 'ridiculously huge'. The largest Pumpkin ever was produced on an Atlantic Giant plant and weighed in at 1810 lbs (821.2 Kg). To put that into perspective a Fiat Punto or Renault Clio weighs only a few kilos more. Fruits can measure more than 6 feet (1.8 metres) in diameter.
In 'normal' garden growing conditions you're unlikelyto get fruits quite as large at that - but here on the nursery we regularly grow fruits 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) in diameter and plenty heavy enough to try and pick up!
The skin is pale orange (paler than many pumpkins) and fairly smooth in texture. The flesh inside is a richer orange and of excellent flavour and texture - so don't just think this is only to be grown for its novelty size value; though what on earth would anyone find to do with that much pumpkin flesh?
Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
