Before you go ahead and place your order, if you're unsure of the most suitable growing conditions for these vegetable seeds, here's some useful growing information on the variety of squashes and pumpkins sold via Victoriana Nursery Gardens.
Both winter squashes and pumpkins thrive in fertile, well-drained soil and need a sunny position with plenty of space to grow - around 3-5 feet in between plants. Plant out your seedlings in spring when the risk of frosts has passed, providing trailing supports if required and support netting later on for heavier fruits. As your pumpkin seedlings and squash seedlings grow, they'll need to be watered well - mulching helps the soil to retain water, and an occasional accompanying feed with tomato fertiliser will also help the fruits to develop healthily and heartily! Harvest in autumn, and leave out for as long as possible to allow the fruit skins to thicken and harden as this makes them much more suited to winter storage!
