Pumpkin & Winter Squash Seeds

We supply a variety of pumpkin seeds and winter squash seeds that not only provide fantastically flavoured fruits for autumn, but will also store and keep your kitchen larder well stocked throughout winter too!

Winter squashes and pumpkins make for highly ornamental additions to your allotment or kitchen - all you need is fertile soil and a sunny position to get you started with your pumpkin seeds and squash seeds.

There are many reasons why we strongly recommend purchasing pumpkin seeds and squash seeds, but to start with, we'll give you three! First, winter squash and pumpkins are actually very versatile, in that they can be used in an abundance of sweet and savoury dishes. Next, larger varieties, such as the Atlantic Giant Pumpkin, can provide several meals, whereas smaller home-grown squash and pumpkin varieties can be grown quite frugally at home, saving you pounds on your supermarket purchases! Lastly, the sheer variety of size, colour and texture make winter squashes and pumpkins a highly ornamental addition to any allotment or kitchen garden. We provide a selection of open pollinated and F1 squash and pumpkin seeds - from small 'Acorn squashes', unusual squash in beautiful blue hues, sweet butternut squash seeds and of course, the beautifully ornamental Turks Turban. Take your pick - whatever your selection, you won't be disappointed!

Before you go ahead and place your order, if you're unsure of the most suitable growing conditions for these vegetable seeds, here's some useful growing information on the variety of squashes and pumpkins sold via Victoriana Nursery Gardens.

Both winter squashes and pumpkins thrive in fertile, well-drained soil and need a sunny position with plenty of space to grow - around 3-5 feet in between plants. Plant out your seedlings in spring when the risk of frosts has passed, providing trailing supports if required and support netting later on for heavier fruits. As your pumpkin seedlings and squash seedlings grow, they'll need to be watered well - mulching helps the soil to retain water, and an occasional accompanying feed with tomato fertiliser will also help the fruits to develop healthily and heartily! Harvest in autumn, and leave out for as long as possible to allow the fruit skins to thicken and harden as this makes them much more suited to winter storage!
