Description
Sometimes called 'Hino Red', this is probably one of the easiest varieties of Gooseberries there is to grow.
Originating from Finland, it is very hardy and also has the added benefit of being mildew resistant.
Heavy cropping, the deep red, large fruits are sweet and very juicy.
- Harvest from July.
- Reaches approximately 3 feet (1 meter) tall and wide.
- In bush form 'Hinnonmaki Red' is best planted 5 x 5 feet (1.5 x 1.5 metres) apart and kept at around 3 - 4 feet (90 - 120 cm) tall.
- Mildew resistant.
- Hardy.
- Likes a full or part sun position.
- Needs a well drained soil
- Self Fertile.
