Description
A good eating apple with an unusual aromatic pineapple flavour. Great for making apple juice.
The fruit ripens to a golden yellow with flecks.
Lucombe's Pine is scab resistant.
- Season of use October - February.
- First introduced in 1800, Exeter, UK.
- Self Sterile - requires a pollinator (another apple).
- Grown on MM106 rootstock for an ultimate (un-pruned) height of 12 - 15 feet (3.65 - 4.6 metres) but can easily be kept at a height of 6 - 8 feet (1.8 - 2.4 metres).
Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
Recommended by the RHS to assist in encouraging bats into the garden as the flowers are likely to attract moths and other night-flying insects which bats love to eat!
