Description
Much cheaper than those bags of baby leaves you buy in the supermarkets - and much much fresher!
This kit contains everything needed (seed, compost and windowsill trough with drip tray) to sow and grow your own baby leaves suitable for eating raw in salads or stir frying. The seed we include is our ever-popular 'Lucky 13' Oriental Vegetable mix which includes Pak Choi, Mizuna, Mibuna, Choi Sum and Kai-Ian Broccoli to name but a few - so perfect for both uses.
We tend to have a trough or two of this growing on our own windowsill all through the winter when we may only want a few salad leaves occasionally as a garnish; if the plants get too large we simply cut back and use in stir fry.
- Can be sown any time of year.
- Simply fill the trough with included compost.
- Sow with the 'Lucky 13' seed and just cover with compost.
- Water and place the trough on your windowsill and keep moist.
- In a few weeks you will have a supply of leaves suitable for salads or stir fry.
- Turn trough regularly if plants start growing towards the light excessively.
- Pick regularly, to keep leaves small and ensure a continued supply, by simply cutting with scissors or similar approximately 1" (3.5 cm) above compost level.
