Tomato Seed English Vesuviano Piennolo

Description

A favourite Italian variety of cherry tomato that grows a bit like grapes, hanging in bunches. The red fruits are almost pear shaped with tipped ends.

These smaller fruits are packed with the most amazing flavours and often used to make sauces.

The seed of this variety originated from theMount Vesuvius region ofNaples in around 1850s. The original seed has DPO (Protected Designation of Origin) rights, our seed is grown and saved here in Challock. In the case ofSpunzillo Vesuviano Piennolo the DPO is assigned to 18 areas around Mount Vesuvius where it is said that the volcanic soil gives it the flavour, we have found that even growing it here in the UK it's pretty impressive!

• This is an indeterminate variety and best grown as a cordon (vine).
• For best yields stop at 5th truss if growing under protection (3rd outside).
• Whilst the best crops will be grown under protection, this variety can also be grown outside.
