Strawberries
Our strawberry plants have been selected to offer excellent flavour, disease resistance and a good yield. Strawberry plants will offer around four years of good service, after which time they can be replaced from your own runners; they're one of the most frugal fruit plants to purchase, and if treated well will reward you with a heavy yield.
To get the best from your strawberry plants, create a strawberry bed in a sunny position, with fertile and well-draining soil. Our strawberry plants and strawberry seeds are supplied direct from our Kent nursery.
Nothing embodies a good British summer quite like a bulging, juicy red strawberry (accompanied by lashings of cream, of course!). And because we don't like to disappoint, here at Victoriana we've undertaken a series of taste tests to ensure that we offer only the best-tasting strawberry varieties for our customers. Strawberries are relatively easy to grow, but our strawberry plants have also been selected to ensure good disease resistance and robust, vigorous growth, to bolster your chances of enjoying a good crop.
The strawberry plants that we supply span the traditional outdoor growing season of strawberries, and can be planted out basically any time of year except when the ground is frozen solid! The traditional technique of growing strawberry plants is to site them in beds, but many strawberry varieties will happily grow in pots, containers, on balconies or even from hanging baskets, provided the soil that they grow in is humus-rich and kept moist.
In addition to our selection of strawberry plants for sale, we also offer a small selection of strawberry seed to buy online. Strawberry seed can be fairly slow to germinate and may not fruit in the first year of growth, but nevertheless still offer a fantastically frugal way to grow your own full-flavoured strawberries at home.
