Description

This is a fantastic squash in every way - and one that's hard to confuse with any other! At first glance the fruits resemble a flattened pumpkin - but the real 'fun' and interest comes from the multi-coloured basal protuberance which, depending on your point of view, either looks like a Turkish hat or a cottage loaf.

Trailing in habit. Fruits can get quite large - with a diameter of 12" (30 cm) or more not unusual. The flesh is a rich golden orange and very moist; the flavour is sweet and nutty.

These store exceptionally well, and we have had 'usable' fruits as late as February.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
