A large, deep, dark green Kabocha fruit, which is slightly ribbed and round, with a pale brown crusty and green striped stalk attached to lime green, prickly stem. Quarter of a green blotchy leaf at the front bottom left.

Description

Also known as Japanese Pumpkin, Kabochas are probably the best squashes there are so far as winter keeping qualities are concerned.

Trailing in habit, each plant will produce 6 fruits each weighing around 4 lbs (2.2 Kg). Dark green skins,striped pale green, are exceptionally thick - which is probably why these 'keep' so well. But once inside you will find a gorgeously rich golden-orange flesh that is deliciously sweet.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
