Description

Seal Heal can be found growing on the edge of woodlands or in wildlife meadows, however it will also grow within a lawn environment and keep close to the ground to avoid being cut!

Sealheal is a member of the mint family and has a similar scent and spreading habit so can make good ground cover using it's rhyizomes.

It has a lovely violet / purple flower which form in clusters on short erect spikes during the Summer which bees and pollinating insects love and the green leaves, which form in pairs, are attached to square stems.

Also known as Allheal, Healall, sicklewort, hookweed, carpenter grass, brunella, prunella, blue curl or brown wort and is native to North America, in medieval times these plants were thought to be 'cure-all' plants.
