Description
Sunflowers are glorious in every way they exist but as a sprouting seed they are very tasty and packed with goodness. They have a distinct and juicy flavour which is full of all sorts of nutrients including phosphorous, calcium and magnesium which can be a worthwhile addition to stir-fries and Chinese food.
For sprouting you need to cover the seeds with cool water and rinse them twice daily (you may find this easier in a jam jar with a piece of cloth or cheesecloth over the top, sealed with an elastic band, do not c6ling film as they need ventilation, do not lay the seeds thick on top of each other as they will rot). Keep the seeds out of direct sunlight but at room temperature.
Crop to harvest usually takes approximately 4-6 days when the hulls fall from the seeds. To entend their life when they are ready keep them in your fridge.
