Description
The name of this variety sort of explains its appearance and fragrance - it has dark green, ginger scented 'spikey' leaves. When it flowers during Spring, Summer and Autumn is has delicate pale blue flowers. The sunnier the position the more this plant has its ginger fragrance.
Bees and other pollinating insects love its flowers, however we recommend pruning once flowering has finished to prevent it from becoming very woody.
Native to the Mediterranean
- Hardy perennial shrub.
- Reaches up to (1 metre) tall.
- Likes a light, sandy, free draining soil.
- Likes a sunny / sheltered position.
Culinary Uses
- Perfect for many meat dishes, particular Lamb.
- Superb addition to stuffing or roast potatoes.
- Makes a nice tea.
Medical Uses
- Can be used to aid digestion.
- Infused in bath water can aid relaxation of muscles and stimulate the mind.
- Thought to aid memory.
