- Can sow any time of the year onto a weed free area, although March / April or August / September are preferable.
- Mix the seed with two or three pudding basins of sand, peat or dry soil and sprinkle over moist or boggy ground and keep moist if weather is dry.
- Ideally this should be undertaken just before rain is expected for the seed to have contact with the soil.
- No need to cover since these are naturally occurring seeds that are usually simply broadcast on the wind.
- It is recommended that you cut to a height of 2" (5 cm) when it first reaches 5" (15 cm).
- Thereafter cut to approximately 3" (7.5 cm) in March / April, with a second cut when flowering is complete September - October. Remove all cuttings.
- Times for germination is variable and often is spread over four to five months.
- If growing in seed trays do not use bottom heat i.e. a propagator, they will best germinate given cold conditions ie 40 - 50F (4 - 10C).
