Description
The familiar, traditional crinkled-leaved parsley.
Parsley is actually a member of the carrot family!
- Hardy biennial.
- Reaches 12-30" (30-80 cm) tall.
- Flowers on long stalk-like green umbelsin June-July (though if parsley flowers the leaves become inedible and the plant will die).
- Likes a rich moist soil.
- Prefers part shade.
- Sow thinly 18" (45 cm) apart in spring (and again in late summer for a winter crop).
- Cover lightly with soil.
- Germination can take 6-7 weeks.
- Pick leaves regularly.
- Full of vitamins and minerals (particularly vitamin C).
- Can be grown in pots.
- Culinary Uses.
- Often used in soups and stews.
- As a garnish on almost any dish!
- Can be added to salad and sandwiches.
- Can be used in bouquet garni.
- Medicinal Uses.
