Description

A spicy peppery/raspberry/strawberry-flavoured grape that is blue-black in colour.

The most widely grown red wine grape in the world, usually producing wine with a high alcohol and sugar content. Regularly used to make Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape or Priorat but can be used for making rose and white wines as well as red.

Grenache is highly recommended for home-made wine as it produces good results fairly easily. It can also be used on its own or blended with other varieties. It has a high sugar content when left to fully ripen. The buds appear earlier in the season and fully ripen late. AlthoughGrenache prefers a hot, dry location (often found in Spain), it is also quite good at withstanding poor soils and windy locations.

Also known as Garnacha Tito or Garnacha Tina, this grape thought to have originated in Spain but no one is really sure.
