Description
One of the most popular varieties of table or eating grape there is, and one you will readily find in the supermarkets. Whilst supermarket bought fruits of this variety have a very acceptable flavour, we have to say that you will soon notice the difference with those you grow yourself which are allowed to naturally ripen on the vine.
The dark red fruits have a very satisfying crunch to them and a lovely juicy sweetness which makes them perfect for eating as a table grape or for juicing.
In southern regions of the UK your grapes should be ready for harvest late September; for more northerly gardeners we would recommend either choosing a particularly warm and well protected outdoor spot or growing under protection.
- Originally from USA.
- Parentage: a complex hybrid of several varieties including 'Thompson' and 'Cardinal'.
- Very late-season fruit ripening.
- Growing under protection (greenhouse, polytunnel or conservatory) highly recommended as this variety tends to come into growth very late in the spring.
- Best grown spur-pruned.
- Seedless (please note in colder parts of the country they may produce a little seed).
- Fruit is seedless.
- SO4 rootstock.
