Description
Sometimes known as 'Bacchusrebe' - but as Bacchus was the God of Wine (in mythological times) we prefer its commonly accepted name of Bacchus.
Originating from Germany this white variety is similar to Müller-Thurgau in flavour but with a better habit, and is now a popular variety in commercial UK vineyards as it makes a most agreeable wine - it is also an excellent grape for eating.
- Originally from Germany.
- Parentage - (Silvaner x Riesling) x Müller-Thurgau.
- Mid-season fruit ripening.
- Winter wood ripening is fair - so can be grown both outdoors or under protection (greenhouse, polytunnel or conservatory).
- Can be trained using either the cane replacement method or spur pruning.
- Self fertile.
- Fruit contains seeds.
