Description
Can make a good bonsai tree because it has small leaves, flowers and fruits as well as it's twisting style of trunk which it produces as it grows.
Native to the Mediterranean and Asia it is simply amazing.
In Ancient Egypt the Dwarf Pomegranate was considered a sacred plant that should be worshipped.
- Deciduous shrub.
- Compact, rounded habit.
- Orange-red trumpet like flowers.
- Brown fruits in Autumn.
- Self fertile.
- Reaches 3 - 4 feet tall (90 - 120 cm).
- Likes a full sun position.
- Prefers fertile, well drained soil.
- Remove wayward shoots in Spring.
- Keep the plant damp at all times (although if you let it dry a little more in late Spring it can encourage the flowers shoots to grow, but don't let it dry out).
- Good disease resistance.
- A frost free position is preferable.
- If planting in a pot, they prefer a deep one!
