Description

A traditional variety of courgette in both senses - it's straight and it's green and by far the most popular. Highly prolific with good shape, colour, flavour and size (just don't forget to keep picking them otherwise they get huge!) Also easy to grow.

Perfect for eating cooked or raw, the fruits are a rich dark green in colour even when juvenile. Such a versatile vegetable, whether you pan fry them with garlic, make them into a curry, stuff the flowers with cheese... the list is endless which is just as well with the number you will have, don't forget to pick them small!

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

• Extremely heavy cropping and robust bush variety.
• Edible flowers.
• Sow under protection in pots late April - late May.
• Place seeds on end, blunted end pointing downwards in compost - simply push into compost until out of sight. Water thoroughly and germinate at a temperature of 75°F (24°C).
• Protect newly sown seeds from mice. Mice are notorious for 'sniffing out' seed of this nature.
• When seed leaves are developed grow on at a reduced temperature of around 65° - 70°F (18° - 21°C).
