Description
With the 'Chocolate' part of this pretty climber's common name coming from the scent of its flower it is often overlooked that this is also a fruiting plant!
Given support, this will easily grow to 20 - 30 feet (6 - 10 metres) with a similar spread as they do love to climb. They look amazing on a pergola or along a wall or fence.
Early in the Spring beautiful dark purple, almost wax like, flowers cover the vine and give off a scent of chocolate vanilla. The leaves themselves and quite pretty and unique, sort of resembling a large clover leaf with five leaflets.
After a good long Summer, purple sausage-shaped fruit are formed. Within the thick skin will be found a lovely creamy white pulp that has a lovely sweet flavour. Whilst partially self fertile, growing several Chocolate Vines will ensure pollination.

- Thrive in all soil types except those prone to laying wet.
