Description

In the 1950s and 1960s this was one of the most widely grown open pollinated varieties; the reason being the excellent uniformity and colour of the fruit and its ability to crop well. Very reliable, Money Maker always manages to produce a crop, even in poor soils and poorer years. The fruits look just like a tomato should - bright red, rounded and billiard ball-sized and have a good flavour.

This is a very well named variety, as over the years it has made a lot of money for both semi-professional and commercial growers alike since it was originally introduced. Orginally bred by Mr Fred Stonor of Stonor's Nursery in Sarisbury Green near Southampton, Hampshire, we have a lovely customer contact us who used to live just down the road from this nursery in the 1930s. He now grows this variety in Australia each year so that he can continue to enjoy its delicious flavours.

• This is an indeterminate variety and best grown as a cordon (vine).
• For best yields stop at 5th truss if growing under protection (3rd outside).
• Whilst the best crops will be grown under protection, this variety can also be grown outside.
